Keith Floyd

The news that the deaths of both Patrick Swayze and Keith Floyd within the space of 24 hours is very sad. I knew Keith Floyd for around 7 years in his time as mine host of the Maltsers Inn at the little Devon village of Tuckenhay. We used to visit the Maltsers many times in the years before Mr.Floyd bought it, and it is a beautiful little pub , right alongside the River Dart. Once keith bought it, he spent a lot of money revamping, and soon had it running as he would have liked, with the accent on fine food and ( not so cheap ) dining. Alongside the pub a whole raft of new developments grew up , with some rather expensive riverside properties completed. Keith Floyd changed the name of the pub from the Maltsers, to Floyds Inn (Sometimes). You could find Keith sat in the corner of the bar and waxing lyrical about all his exploits and travels, he was a true devil may care spirit, and it came as no shock, but nevertheless such a shame when he left the pub and went back to Ireland. Keith will be sadly missed, his flamoyance, his wit, his supreme cookery skills and his unflagging spirit.
